Scarp Archaeology is a discipline leader bridging archaeology and research, whilst managing some of the largest and most complex cultural heritage work in Australia. We are proud foundation Partners in two Australian Research Council (ARC) Centres of Excellence, and Aboriginal Representative Bodies, whilst still working closely with proponents.
We have a ‘field ready’ team of experienced Indigenous archaeologists skilled in cultural heritage, survey, site assessment and complex excavations throughout Australia focused on remote projects.

Scarp is proud to be Partner Investigator in the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence in Indigenous Environments and Heritage Futures (CIEHF) and the Centre of Excellence in Australian Biodiversity and Heritage (CABAH).
We are the only commercial archaeology and heritage company to be invited into CABAH and are a central part of this important research of Australia’s epic past. At CIEHF we strongly support their aim of authentic co-designed research with Indigenous Partners.

Richard Brookdale Scholarship
The Richard Brookdale Scholarship was established by Scarp Archaeology in 2014 in memory of Richard Brookdale, a friend, keen fieldworker and supporter of archaeology in the communities of the Gulf of Carpentaria for many years, who passed away in 2013. The purpose of the Scholarship is to support a student on the Cairns campus of James Cook University accepted into honours or coursework masters degree with an Australian Indigenous archaeology honours topic.
